PAST PROJECTS & PROGRAMS

Since our founding in Bir, India in 1993, Lotus Outreach has provided basic health, education and human services to tens of thousands of people throughout Asia.  Our previous initiatives include:

  • Beer Girls Advocacy Project.  Advocacy and public awareness campaign to prevent the mistreatment of beer promotion girls in Cambodia.
  • Mobile Medical Outreach.  Basic health and reprodutive care for vulnerable children and garment factory workers in Cambodia.
  • Right to Education Task Force.  Legal advocacy and community mobilization to enhance educational opportunities for below poverty line (BPL) children in Delhi, India.
  • Skills Training for Victims of Human Trafficking.  Professional screen print training provided to at-risk and exploited Cambodian girls to help them find new opportunities.
  • Prevention Programming on the Radio.  Broadcast over 90 original radio programs on health, human trafficking and social development which reached as much as 75% of the Cambodian population.
  • Street Kids Program (SKiP).  Provided basic health, education, shelter and referral services to hundreds of slum children in Delhi, India.
  • Non-Formal Education.  Provided hundreds of slum children in Delhi with non-formal education in order to prepare them for age-appropriate classes in public school.
  • In Situ Computer Center.  Held computer training courses for slum children in Yamuna Pushta in order to prepare them for formal employment.
  • Immunization Project.  Provided critical vaccinations and immunizations to the general public in Bhutan.
  • Education and Employment Training for Tibetan Refugees.  Provided educational resources and job training to the poorest families residing in a Himalayan refugee settlement in Bir, India.
