Thirteen schoolgirls have been on a hunger strike for six days to protest against daily sexual harassment in the northern Indian state of Haryana. "Should we stop studying? Should we stop dreaming? Are only rich people and their children allowed to dream? The government should protect us or open a higher-secondary school in our village."
The Blossom Bus program, based in Haryana, was created to fight these injustices by providing safe transportation for schoolgirls everyday. We applaud these girls for their bravery and stand with them in solidarity. Read more here.
Follow up! The strike has ended and the Indian government has committed to meeting the demands of the girl students. These girls are our heroes!
